Carclo - Light Years Ahead of the rest
Carclo Technical Plastics has taken its ground–breaking injection moulded 10mm TIR optic and transformed into a revolutionary new optical component – a linear extruded TIR optic! Called the Continuous Strip Optic, this new extruded optic measures a mere 11mm in cross-section and is 4.7mm high. It is specifically designed to efficiently manage the light from a linear strip of LED’s, while significantly eliminating hot spots and shadows.
As it longitudinally diffuses the LED light sources, this new strip optic can be used for both white light applications as well as RGB mixing. The Carclo Continuous Strip optic is more than 80% efficient and provides an even beam of 35–40 degrees, depending on LED and focal height.
As such, it provides a very cost-effective alternative to individual optics for linear applications such as under cabinet lighting, retail and museum lighting, aircraft interior lighting, architectural wall washing, cove and corridor lighting, and many more general, commercial, and architectural lighting applications.
The Carclo Continuous Strip optic is specifically designed for use with small, high-brightness surface mount (SMT) LEDs such as the LUXEON Rebel, the Cree XP series, as well as the Osram Oslon, Nichia 119 and Seoul Z5. In addition, this extruded TIR optic also works well with the increasingly popular ½ and ¼ watt linear LEDs such as the Cree ML–E and ML–B, as well as the Nichia 157 and 123.
The Carclo Continuous Strip Optic comes in two standard lengths, part no.10397 which is 1200mm (4 foot) long, and part number 10398, which is 300mm (1 foot) long. Other custom lengths up to 2 metres (6 feet) are also available on request.
